AIDS Action Baltimore

MISSION: AIDS Action Baltimore, Inc. (AAB) is dedicated to providing patient services, including financial assistance, research, treatment access advocacy and HIV prevention services, including PrEP for all people with HIV and infection in the Baltimore metropolitan area. AAB programs are designed to empower people with HIV infection to advocate and care for themselves, to access the latest HIV treatments and clinical trials, and to live with hope and dignity. AAB provides advocacy, support and develops patient services programs to support individuals with HIV disease without regard to age, race, gender, ethnic origin, religion or sexual orientation.


The Blade Foundation

Capital Pride

MISSION: The Capital Pride Alliance, through its stewardship of diverse programming and events, specifically year-round LGBTQ+ Pride festivities centered in Washington, DC and the National Capital Region, serves to celebrate, educate, support, and inspire our multifaceted communities in order to grow and preserve our history and protect our rights for current and future generations.

MISSION: The DC LGBT Center educates, empowers, celebrates, and connects the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities. To fulfill our mission, we focus on four core areas: health and wellness, arts & culture, social & peer support, and advocacy and community building.


DC Independent Film Festival

MISSION: The DC Independent Film Festival (DCIFF) is the oldest independent film festival in Washington, D.C. Started in 1999, DCIFF exhibits features, animation, shorts and documentaries from around the world, focusing on cutting-edge ideas, new visions and advances in the craft of filmmaking.


The DC Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

MISSION: The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence® is a leading-edge Order of queer nuns. Since their first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday, 1979, the Sisters have devoted themselves to community service, ministry and outreach to those on the edges, and to promoting human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual enlightenment. They believe all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty and they use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is an Order of post-modern nuns and guards dedicated to the promulgation of universal joy and the expiation of stigmatic guilt. Their ministry is one of public manifestation and habitual perpetration. More joy! No more guilt!


Damien Ministries

MISSION: Damien Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit organization which helps people living with HIV/AIDS.

MISSION: To improve the lives and health of people with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses that limit their ability to provide nourishment for themselves by: preparing and delivering specialized meals and groceries that are designed to meet the medical and dietary needs of each of our clients; providing nutritional counseling and wellness education that enhances our clients’ quality of life; and creating a strong sense of community for both our clients and volunteers that reduces the social isolation that often comes with serious illnesses and provides meaningful opportunities for neighbors to help neighbors in need.

HIPS

MISSION: HIPS promotes the health, rights, and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by sexual exchange and/or drug use due to choice, coercion, or circumstance. HIPS provides compassionate harm reduction services, advocacy, and community engagement that is respectful, non-judgmental, and affirms and honors individual power and agency.


INOVA – Juniper Program

MISSION: Inova Juniper Program is Northern Virginia’s largest provider of HIV/AIDS care. We are proud to offer all aspects of primary medical care and mental health, substance abuse and case management services to HIV positive individuals along with a history of delivering compassionate HIV/AIDS clinical and education services. Our convenient services are available at locations around Northern Virginia. We provide compassionate, dignified care to individuals regardless of their sex, race, background, sexual orientation, religious preference, financial status or insurance coverage. At any given time, Inova Juniper provides services to about 1,800 active clients.


La Clinica del Pueblo

MISSION: Since 1983, La Clínica del Pueblo has been addressing the distinct health needs of our community through comprehensive primary medical care with wrap-around services across the life spectrum; mental health and substance use treatment; medical interpretation and language access advocacy; community health including health education and safe spaces; and advocacy strategies to increase inclusion and health equity for Latino immigrants.


Lambda Legal

MISSION: Lambda Legal, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.


Latin American Youth Center

Metro DC PFLAG

MISSION: Founded in 1983, Metro DC PFLAG, a non profit, non-partisan, volunteer organization, provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. Promoting pride and ending discrimination is the goal of Metro DC PFLAG. Our family values stress education, understanding, acceptance, and support, but most of all love, thereby empowering our children — straight and gay — to lead happy and productive lives.


New Alternatives

MISSION: New Alternatives increases the self-sufficiency of LGBTQ+ homeless youth by enabling them to transition out of the shelter system to stable adult lives. We do this by providing long-term support, weekly case management, education services, life skills training, community-building recreational activities, opportunities for self-expression, and programs for HIV+ youth. Our guiding principles are those of harm reduction, youth development, and empowerment.


Rainbow History Project

MISSION: Our Mission is to collect, preserve, and promote an active knowledge of the history, arts, and culture of metropolitan Washington DC’s diverse LGBTQ+ communities.  That can be accomplished only if our collection, volunteer corps, and programming reflect and represent the full diversity of those communities and their allies. It is therefore our fundamental policy to seek out the active participation and involvement of individuals of all backgrounds-particularly those from under-represented groups–who agree with and are committed to carrying out the goals of our organization..


SMYAL

MISSION: SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders) supports and empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in the Washington, DC, metropolitan region. Through youth leadership, SMYAL creates opportunities for LGBTQ youth to build self-confidence, develop critical life skills, and engage their peers and community through service and advocacy. Committed to social change, SMYAL builds, sustains, and advocates for programs, policies, and services that LGBTQ youth need as they grow into adulthood.


Tagg Scholarship Fund

Team DC

MISSION: Team DC is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization established to educate the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community on the benefits of individual and team sports participation. Team DC works within the broader community to dispel discrimination against LGBT people participating in sports; awards scholarships to LGBT student-athletes; provides a network of sporting outlets for the LGBT community of the Washington Metropolitan area; and promotes participation in local, regional, national, and international amateur sports competitions.


The Trevor Project

MISSION: Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.


TransLatin@ Coalition

MISSION: The TransLatin@ Coalition is an organization formed by Trans Latin@ leaders who came together in 2009 to organize and advocate for the needs of Trans Latin@s who are immigrants and reside in the US.

MISSION: Trans Legal Advocates of Washington was founded in 2012 by community legal advocates in Washington, DC to better serve the legal needs of transgender people in the Metro Washington, DC area, which includes the immediate areas of Maryland and Virginia. TransLAW aims to meet these needs by serving trans clients for free in a clinic setting with our partnership with Whitman-Walker Health, by providing financial assistance to clients who might otherwise be unable to afford to change their name and gender markers on identity documents, and by training legal services organizations and legal professionals. At this time, TransLAW is unable to offer direct legal services or legal referrals. If you need services or a referral, contact Whitman-Walker Health’s Legal Services.

MISSION: The Wanda Alston Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that LGBTQ youth have access to services that improve their overall quality of life. This is achieved through advocacy and programming. The Wanda Alston Foundation advocates for increased resources for youth while providing programs including: housing, life skills training, linkages to other social services, and capacity building assistance for other community allies.
